1. Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using OBD Pilot, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. What OBD Pilot is — and isn't

OBD Pilot reads standard OBD2 diagnostic data and uses AI to explain it. It is an informational tool, not a substitute for a qualified mechanic. Always confirm any finding with a professional before performing a repair or making a driving decision based on it.

3. Safe use

You agree not to use OBD Pilot while driving. Pull over safely before interacting with the app.

4. License

We grant you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use OBD Pilot on Apple devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

You may not:

5. Subscriptions

OBD Pilot Pro is an auto-renewing subscription:

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions.

If you cancel during the free trial, you will not be charged. If you cancel after the trial, you keep access until the end of the current billing period.

Refunds are handled by Apple under their standard refund policy.

6. Bring-Your-Own-Key (BYOK)

As an alternative to the Pro subscription, you may use your own OpenAI API key. If you do:

7. Third-party services

OBD Pilot uses OpenAI's API for AI features. Your use of those features is also subject to OpenAI's terms of service: openai.com/policies/terms-of-use.

We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or content of OpenAI responses.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

OBD Pilot is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any data or advice provided will be accurate.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will Shashank Mallela (sole proprietor), its affiliates, or its suppliers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising out of your use of, or inability to use, OBD Pilot — including damages resulting from any repair decision made on the basis of the app's output.

Our total cumulative liability under these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or US$50, whichever is greater.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to OBD Pilot if you breach these Terms. You may terminate by deleting the app at any time.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notice. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Germany. Nothing in these Terms affects any mandatory statutory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your country of residence.
